Pleasureland was a popular swim club where many people enjoyed BBQ's and parties until August 1985, when a gun battle between elements of the Jamaican Shower Posse and elements of the Spangler and Dog Posses took place over a major drug deal gone bad.
This incident resulted in the death of three persons, the wounding of 19 others and the seizure by police of 33 weapons.
The swim club closed and the land was left open to decay.
